The Art Institute of Colorado is offering a new culinary program in Baking & Pastry. The Associate of Applied Science in Baking & Pastry will provide students with fundamentals in pastry and bread baking techniques, production skills, as well as critical thinking skills. The program is designed to serve the food service industry career- focused student, as well as the career changers. Graduates may use the degree to advance their careers in their current field, transition to a career with greater baking and pastry responsibility, or pursue an entry level management position. Instruction is delivered through lecture and hands-on kitchen production with students developing competencies in the basic fundamentals of baking, desserts, cake decoration and the pastry arts. Hands-on technical skills are complimented with basic food service management theory.
