Raydeo Enterprises, Inc. first began as a neon and sign company based out of the backroom of its original owners home. Peter Mercure started the business under the name of "Custom Neon" and proceeded to develop his business as a local sign and neon shop in Marietta, GA. John Mercure, Peter’s younger brother entered into the business when he helped produce a video rock-opera titled Raydeo Ranger for Pete, an aspiring songwriter and musician. In 1986 the two brothers united in business and decided to develop a new entity called Raydeo Enterprises.
The sign business was booming in the 80’s as neon had gained popularity with business owners and the company focused more on custom sign-operations utilizing a variety of materials such as acrylics, aluminum, steel, brass, neon and sometimes fiber optics. Peter, who specialized in the technology aspect of the business focused on the electrical and sometimes audio aspects of the business.
